Giving Insulin Shots In Canines
Giving insulin shots
Pinch up the skin of your pet over the lower neck or shoulders. A triangle of skin is formed. Aim your needle for the center of this triangle and insert the needle. Do not be shy or the needle will not penetrate the skin. Press the plunger and deliver the insulin. Alternatively, you can part the hair and push the needle through the skin at a 45-degree angle. Try rotating injection sites, so as not to give the shots in the same place every day.
If your pet is struggling, or for some reason, you are not sure if the full dose was delivered, do not give more. Simply wait until the next scheduled dose.
